The Navi Mumbai Photo Fest 2013 also included several Warli art/paintings on rock surfaces and a puppet show.
Warli art belongs to a community of tribal people called Warlis living in north-west Maharashtra and south Gujarat. Their art/paintings are quite unique and can be found on almost any surface, e.g. rocks, cloth, paper, walls of huts in their villages.
The puppet show is typical folk entertainment from villages of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The Navi Mumbai Photo Fest 2013 was held in Urban Haat in CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai, 1-7 October 2013. Navi Mumbai is a satellite town connected to Mumbai, located north-east of Mumbai city. Urban Haat is the ‘exhibition grounds’ in Belapur where many art and performance festivals are held. This was my first visit to Urban Haat and the Navi Mumbai Photo Fest. They were already winding up when I landed there with a few friends late afternoon yesterday
