Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Temple, Mumbai 3
More photos of Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Temple. The 4th and 5th photos are of the goddess Sri Kanyaka Parameswari. This was the first time I was allowed to take photographs inside the main temple.

Here are close-up views of some of the colourful idols that adorn the façade of the temple:
Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Temple is located in Matunga (East) in Mumbai. It is a small temple housed on the ground floor of Vasavi Nilayam Building on Telang Road. I know very little about this temple except that this new reconstructed temple has been there for 12 years or so. There was a small temple there for many years. The goddess Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari has her origins in Andhra Pradesh and in the Vysya community, going back to 10th century AD. As far as I know, her devotees are predominantly Telegu people – and women, since Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari had defended women and championed their causes. Her story can be found here and here.
I liked the colourful idols which adorn the façade of the modern Vasavi Nilayam Building that houses the temple and decided to photograph them.
